Why You Aren’t Getting Results

Ok, ladies and gents…

We are going to talk about the thing we probably don’t want to talk about.

When I was overweight, not feeling great, and stuck in a bit of depression, I was in a state of denial. I had a million excuses why I was not getting results. I didn’t have the time, I didn’t know what to do, my kids were crazy, I was “big boned,” my body was different after babies and wouldn’t go back, I didn’t “need” to workout…….

But here is the thing…. all of those excuses could absolutely be LEGIT… but they won’t get me closer to my goal. And the reality of our goal is that it is something we have once envisioned, something we have wanted, and if we don’t do EVERYTHING we possibly can to get to that spot…. who are we?

No, really….. who are we? Who are you? Who are you if you can’t be someone that works towards the things you want and can’t get the results that you want in your life?

So let’s talk….
And because you are probably busy…  Let’s make this SIMPLE.

There are THREE main reasons why you aren’t getting results. (or why you haven’t actually started at all).

Here we go….

  1. You don’t know what to do for a workout.

So many of us get the gym membership, we feel so excited and then we end up at the gym, looking around, lifting weights when no one is looking, putting them down when it hurts, jumping on the treadmill and then stopping when no one sees us jump off, getting on the elipitcial because let’s be honest — it is an easier version of the treadmill but still makes us feel  like we did something.

Then, after a couple of weeks of “putting in time at the gym,” we don’t get the results we wanted and we give up. ( I am totally raising my hand here on this one ).

OR, you have this plan to workout at home because there is NO way you can make it to the gym. Then, you get out your yoga mat, you post it on social media and  you sit there trying to touch your toes wondering what the hell you are even doing right now. (Again, I am raising my hand).

There are PLENTY of things you can do to workout. There are plenty of workouts for everyone, however, if you don’t know what to do for your body, you may not be getting the results that you want (or any at all).

  2. You don’t know what to eat.

Let’s face it, this is one of the hardest parts of getting results. There have been a million different ways to “diet” and so many of us jump all around. We go low carb, to high fat, to no fat, to juicing…

So what really works?  Personally, I don’t think you should limit yourself. Eat the bacon. Eat the pizza. Enjoy your life. But enjoy it in a way that you also keep your body healthy and live longer.

AND – for the sake of this blog post, enjoy it in a way that gets you results. So you don’t only want to
find what works but STICK to it.

  3. You don’t have SUPPORT.

This is by far the BIGGEST reason people don’t get results. You can workout, you can eat right, but when the going gets tough and when you need someone to say “keep going” – you NEED a support system to reach out to. Let’s be real here – sometimes your spouse isn’t exactly the most supportive right away. Sometimes, the people you hang around don’t always have the best habits and make getting healthy harder than it should be. When you think about it, it’s the people you hang around that got you where you are right now anyway. (hmmmm, truth bomb, right?)

That is why the biggest reason people struggle with getting results is because they lack the extra support they need.

Ok, so you sit here reading this and you probably are shaking your head like “yep, yep, that’s true” and now the issue is what do you DO about it?

Well you find a program and you stick with it.
The key isn’t finding a magical program but more you sticking with whatever you choose.

Then you stick with the nutrition plan.
You don’t need some crazy restrictive diet.
But you should again, make an effort to stick with it.
(I personally stick by the 80/20 rule – I like to eat well 80% of the time and 20% enjoy myself).

And when it comes to support…
Be bold. As your friends for support, ask your spouse, ask your coworkers.

For the whole package of all of the above…
I host fitness accountability groups where I help you with picking that program you can stick with, helping you with your nutrition and getting you all the support and motivation you need!

And let’s be real – before you click out of this window and start googling “how to lose weight fast,” remember that your body is the best investment you will ever make.

You, my friend, are WORTH doing everything you can to feel the best you possibly can in your skin.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY. IT’S THE ONLY PLACE YOU HAVE TO LIVE.

Year 16 and we are putting the whole “for richer Year 16 and we are putting the whole “for richer or poorer, in sickness and health” to the test. 😳

Between hospital bills and almost 2 weeks in the hospital - we have reached the sicker and poorer side of our marriage 🫤

But we have also stayed madly in love throughout every adventure and moment… and this won’t be any different. 🥰

To the guy I married when I was 20 years old and everyone said it was crazy….

You are the best part of my life 💕

Here’s to another 16…. 🥂
More health & more richer 😉😆

HE IS HOME!!! 🙌🏼🥰💕🎉 My favorite pe HE IS HOME!!! 🙌🏼🥰💕🎉

My favorite person in the entire world is home after a long 12 days in the hospital!!!!!!

12 days is the LONGEST we have ever not snuggled together….
The LONGEST the kids haven’t had daddy home…

For 10 of those days, we didn’t have a full conversation.. which is also the longest time we have gone without talking 😪

He still has pancreatitis and will need gallbladder surgery in the near future….
But for now, he can heal at home with his family! 💕

We are so grateful for all of the love, prayers, visits, meals, kid pickups and every bit of incredible support.

For most of the time he was gone, I cried every morning and every night before and after I was with him.
I am so very grateful for every person that offered any help because it meant soooo much and mentally I needed it!!!

We are soooooooooooo grateful as a family for ALL OF YOU!! 💕

Every person who helped and prayed and supported us was absolutely apart if his healing.

We are snuggling him extra now and taking every bit of time we have with him!!!

This is not the Mothers Day I would have picked… This is not the Mothers Day I would have picked…

But I would pick these kids, this family and this moment of pride for my boy over and over again.

Just being together matters.

Just raising good humans matters.

If my Mothers Day gift this year was this reminder that my kids are growing into great people.. that’s enough 💕

I don’t know if it’s a sign… But I do know t I don’t know if it’s a sign…
But I do know there is power in prayer…
I do know there aren’t any coincidences…
I do know that these doves weren’t not just flying by and found a place to land…
They had to come from up above and swoop down into this courtyard.

Tonight will officially mark the most amount of ni Tonight will officially mark the most amount of nights we haven’t slept together in 17 years… 😢

The hardest part of today was him being out of it so much and sleeping that he was talking in his sleep to the kids. 😪

The second hardest was feeding him and seeing him be the most weak he has ever been.

The third hardest was leaving him…

I walk away and leave it to God and the nurses to take care of him while I’m gone.

And go home and put a smile on my face when I’m home with the kids…

And pray that when I come back, he has GRANDPA JOE’d himself out of this bed and I can take him home 🥰
Our favorite person in the house went to the ER wi Our favorite person in the house went to the ER with chest pains (holy scare) —
And it turned out to be the gallbladder. 😬

After alot of scans and tests, it looks like our guy is going to spend some days in the hospital and set to have surgery soon. 😢

My husband is the ROCK of this whole family.
Everyone else (including me) are just mini hurricanes in this life and he is the rock that stays still and holds us all together.

For a second, I thought I would just stay silent on here. If it wasn’t fitness, podcasts or inspiration, maybe I’ll just keep quiet.

But - I have opened up alot about my life…
And I don’t want you to follow me or my family and think everything is rainbows and butterflies.

I don’t want people who go through illness or hard times to think they are alone in that. I want to continue to show you that there are hard times, scary times and not every day is a party… but we move forward.

We draw strength from eachother as a family, we draw strength from the friends that have been placed in our lives and we draw strength from God.

I will continue to be open about our family in hopes to inspire you, to be here for you if YOU need someone and to show you that we’re all human and all have struggles.

We are patiently waiting for surgery…
we were all set to go yesterday but his pancreas levels were bad so they canceled it.

Today, we are waiting for blood work to give us the all clear for surgery and hope his pain goes away.

The kids have never seen daddy like this so it’s hard watching them cry everytime they think of him or see him, while trying to hold it in at the same time. 😪

Last night, the kids and I prayed..
We prayed for daddy’s pain, we prayed for the surgeons hands, for the nurses who are taking care of him, for the doctors, and for our friends who have been so thoughtful.

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, love and support! 💕

He then gave her back the dog treat and said to give it to the dog.
