Super Saturday Weekend January 2017

This past weekend was life changing for so many reasons.
This exact time last year, I was sitting in the same area with the same people but I was a completely different person.
I was insecure, I had anxiety, I was nervous, I was scared and I wasn’t as healthy.
This year when I came to the Super Saturday event in Pittsburgh, I had a different feeling. I was now personal friends with the people I looked up to the year before. I didn’t have the same anxiety because I was now part of the community that I was dreaming about before.
My husband and I left the kids with grandparents and we set off on a four hour journey. We got in Friday night and had a private celebration with the CEO of Beachbody, Carl Daikeler. I got the chance to catch up with friends that I have met through this journey and meet new
people.

Everyone is like a celebrity at these events. You follow their pages, you see them on the internet and all of a sudden you are face to face with them. The people that intimidate you actually end up being so down to earth and approachable.
We then sat for the event part where we celebrated the top transformations of 2016. My husband and I were actually featured and our transformation pictures were up on the big screen.
                    
There were inspiring stories of success, transformations and celebrations. They also announced the next big success club trip to MEXICO! (yay)!
We ended the night with a live super workout. There was so much energy in the room. All these people who didn’t know each other but were all passionate about health and fitness. People were of all sizes, all different spots in their journey and they were passionate about it. We high fived people we didn’t know, got together for pictures with strangers and really just enjoyed the fact that we were able to be here for all of this.

Saturday morning, I got up early to workout. Yea, I’m crazy. I just really wanted to start my day feeling great. I knew I would be indulging later in the day so I wanted to work off what I could in the morning. I joined a fellow coach, brought my laptop and we got a workout in. In a room full of gym equipment, all we needed was a laptop and motivation and we got in an amazing workout.
I then attended some trainings where my personal video was featured. It was so surreal to see and hear myself on the big screen. People were nodding their heads in aggreance to what I was saying and that was amazing. To think that one year ago, I was sitting in these same seats watching someone else and now someone was sitting there watching me.
Now for the highlight of the trip. Our mom and dad nap!
HA – just kidding. Well, kinda. That nap was amazing. I haven’t gotten a good nap in maybe a year or more, or two years….
But, really, we napped then got all dressed up and then drove to a diamond celebration dinner. We had a champagne toast, dancing, a fancy dinner, laughs and just enjoyed each other and talked about goals.

It was a life changing weekend because one year ago I was not even close to doing any of this. I would have never felt comfortable doing any of this or have even thought I was worthy. And this weekend, I DID it!

 

I proved myself wrong. I proved that you can literally do anything you put your mind to. You can be apart of any crowd you want. You make your future. You make your dreams. And I am so thankful for this opportunity because my dreams have come true!

Stop Comparing Yourself to Other Moms & Keep Going

Today is a day to be documented….

I had the urge to blog this day because you don’t get that many of these days as a mom…

So many times, as a mom, I doubt myself. I wonder if I am doing it right…. Am I good mom? Am I a good role model?

And you know what I do that is even WORSE than that?

I compare myself to other moms. I do it ALL THE TIME!
I think..
“look how patient she is, wish I was like that with my kids”
“look at her great hair, how does she have time to get it together?”
“Look at her talking to her friends, laughing and happy, wish I was doing that”
“Look at her makeup…. ugh, did I even wear makeup today…. does yesterday’s count?”
“Look at her fit body, how much does she workout, does she have a personal trainer, wish my butt looked like that..”

Come on, if you are a mom, you find yourself comparing yourself to other moms.

BUT TODAY – I didn’t.

I set myself up for a GREAT day. I put myself first today and it translated into the rest of the day.

I woke up, I checked in with my challengers who inspire me everyday, I read some personal development, I worked out, I talked to my husband and enjoyed his company. I got showered, dressed, because I got up early, I was able to DRY MY HAIR.. WOW – that never happens, I made my breakfast super food shake, and I got my son to school EARLY (again, I need an award for that one)….  I went to a friend’s house and even stopped for coffee on the way (wow, this is just so exciting… friends and coffee? YES, YES and YES)!

And then I took my daughter to the library. Now, this is usually the moment I start to compare myself.  Here I am with a bunch of other moms and their children… It is SO DARN EASY to look at other women and want to compare.
But I DID NOT.

I was TOO DARN HAPPY with my own self to even worry about comparing myself to anyone.
I had my little mini-me, I put down my bag, my phone and I got on my knees and played with my daughter. I didn’t care if I had muffin top when sitting down, I didn’t care that I may or may not have had toothpaste on my shirt, and I didn’t care that my daughter was still wearing her PJ shirt from this morning (yea, there is no fighting with her and her minnie mouse clothes).

I was feeling GREAT. I knew that today I had worked hard to be a better version of myself. I was confident with Farin. I was confident in who I chose to be today. And because of that, I became a better mother.
When I feel great with myself, I am a better mother! When I feel great with myself, I am a better wife. When I feel great with myself, I am a better person all together!

And because of days like today, I will KEEP GOING!!!

Onto the New Year… Turning your resolutions into results!

HAPPY 2017!

Here we are, onto another New Year. I know it sounds cliche to say “New Year, New Me” but who cares! It is perfectly ok to be cliche and it is perfectly ok to want to work on yourself. The want and need to work on yourself already makes you amazing.

So, it is the first day of the New Year. Now what?
What changes can you make that will turn this year into an even better year than the last?

Do you have goals?
Do you have a place you want to be in your life?

If you said yes to one or both of those questions…. GET OFF YOUR BUTT and do something about it. #sorrynotsorry for that. It had to be said. No one is going to put the work in for you. No one is going to BEG you to get to your goals. You have to WANT IT.

You have to have a passion for your goals and your change so much that it gets a fire going inside you!

So what can you do to get there?

Take some time for yourself right this minute and make a plan. Find a way and go for it.
Decide in this moment to put your health and your body and mind first for a little bit.
I am officially giving you permission to LOVE yourself….
I am giving you permission to take care of yourself..
I am giving you permission to be SELFISH for once…. it is OK.. and you will get stronger because of it…

I am going to be running a 30 day fitness accountability group this month. I will be helping you to get you off your feet and into a fitness routine that fits your schedule and needs. I am with you 100%! In this group we will work on clean eating, workouts, meal planning and finding the time to get it all in. In the group there will be motivation, recipes, support and PRIZES!

Make 2017 your year! Make this year the best one yet!

Beachbody All Access On Demand Challenge Pack & Membership

Big title to this blog post for some BIG exciting news!
The way we view fitness has totally changed. In the past year I have seen thousands of people change their bodies in the comfort of their own home. The gym is no longer the ONLY solution.

I know that for me, I was a new mom of two and getting two children to the gym was nearly impossible. Don’t get me wrong, I am not knocking the gym. I think it is awesome to be able to get out of the house and go somewhere with other adults.

However, I was a mom with goals and it was hard to achieve those goals when my only option was to haul two kids to the gym, a 20 minute drive there and back, AND all while nursing this little one. Any other nursing mommas feel me?

Eat that COOKIE!

Hi – My name is Farin Doran – and I am a cookie-aholic.
Ok, I lied…. I am a cookie/brownie – aholic….
Ok, I am also a liar because I basically love ALL desserts….
and when I say ALL desserts, I mean I would literally eat any dessert for the mere fact that it has sugar in it and I LOVE it!
So, going through my fitness journey and trying my best to inspire others to stay on track, this is the HARDEST time of the year for me. I want to eat ALL the cookies. Everyone keeps talking about cookie parties and what type of cookies they are going to make and all I can think about is the cookie dough I am going to eat while making them. (Anyone else with me?) I actually love the cookie dough more than the cookie! #sorrynotsorry
Right now I am struggling with, “Screw skinny jeans, I want cookies” and “I want to look great in my cocktail dress for New Years.” Hmmmm, decisions decisions.
Here is a fact: Those cookies won’t make me fat. They won’t change my endurance level or take away all my hard work.
BUT, I can practice self control. I don’t have to eat the whole batch of cookies. I can eat one and walk away. Maybe come back for another one later, BUT I don’t have to go crazy with it.
So here is my “cookie plan” for you fellow cookie-aholics….
*Pre Baking cookies – having something healthy but sweet on hand to have in place of the extra dozen of cookies I want to eat. I make Shakeology balls and or some other type of cookie that is just as good…. click here for a healthy recipe.
Step 1 – Drink a glass of water before making cookies
Step 2 – Take a lick of the bowl (because it is actually a sin to not lick the bowl after making homemade cookies….. really it is, go look it up)
Step 3 – Bake the cookies…. and drink another glass of water. (By now, I should be running to the bathroom with all the water I am drinking)
Step 4 – Take the cookies out of the oven. Have a cookie. Because they are best right out of the oven. And then call it a day. Save the cookies for the family and my little sugar loving mini-me’s.
Step 5 – Take the cookies in the closet and eat the rest…. If  no one sees me, it never happened, right?
HAHA – KIDDING!
Step 6 – Enjoy myself with other things besides with food.

My point for you friends, is that you absolutely NEED to eat that cookie. You need to have a treat every once in awhile. You have to be able to eat that cookie and know that NO it won’t make you fat, NO it won’t hurt your progress and YES you will jump back into your fitness journey. You can still accomplish your goals AND enjoy the sweet things in life too.

Post Cyber Monday – Invest In Yourself

So, let’s get real. How many times have you seen a cyber Monday deal or a Black Friday deal and think “you have to have it.”

You get excited, you see the flashing lights, the for sale sign and you “add to cart.”
But have you asked yourself, if it is worth it? Have you asked yourself if you NEED it?
And have you put off buying things that would be beneficial for your health because you thought it was too expensive?
Let’s face it. We all have. I have been there. I would buy a new outfit to make myself feed good momentarily but then I would put off buying something that I knew would make me feel better for a lifetime.
I made up every excuse in the book as to why I could not afford something for my health.
However, I would find every REASON to buy that new outfit.
It is crazy, right?
But here is the thing…..
Fifty years will go by and that new outfit or that cyber Monday deal will be long forgotten. All you will have left is your health.
Did you INVEST in your health?
When you look back, did you do everything you could to live a healthier life?
Did you do everything you could to make the most of the life you are living?
If you think right now, right this second that you may look back with regrets….. Make the change NOW.
Your health matters… You matter…. Invest in yourself!
It will be the best “deal” you ever get!

How To Prepare For The Holidays

I am currently in a workout program and I am doing my BEST to stick to it so this Thanksgiving is going to be a little different than the normal Thanksgivings for me…..
I LOVE mashed potatoes… and I LOVE gravy… and I actually LOVE mixing them all together and shoving them in my BIG mouth!!
Sooooo…
If you are on a plan and you want to stay on track this Thanksgiving, here are some tips:

Make A Plan

– Know what you are going to eat and know what you are NOT going to eat. Make your plan about being with family and friends and not so much about eating a TON of food.

Workout

– Sure, I do think you need days off… BUT if you are trying to stay on track and you know you may be tempted… then getting in that 15-30 minute workout helps a TON. It is all about mindset and getting your workout in, your mindset right and planning on staying on track will help you reach your goals! (I plan on doing the Turkey Trot first thing in the morning — wish me luck).

Don’t Show Up Hungry

– For me, I am going to have a superfood shake before I walk into the door of my family’s house. I am actually going to not one, not two, but THREE different houses on Thanksgiving… So I will have healthy snacks packed in the car incase I get a craving. I will drink my shake before house number 1 and then see how I feel the rest of the day!

“Taste Test” the unhealthy choices 

– For me, personally… I am going to do my best to stay away from the unhealthy choices. I am going to sit as far away from the dessert table and once I am finished eating, I will grab a water and move to where family is gathering NOT around the dinner table. However, I do believe in the 80/20 rule and I also believe in “YOLO” — So if you are not on a strict plan right now, go in for it… but only “taste test” and then move on. Get it out of your system and walk away.

Fill Your Plate with Healthy Choices

– Sweet potatoes (without the marshmallows), White Turkey Meat, Salad, Apples,Vegetables, Cranberries and even red wine are great choices.

Water, Water, Water

– Drink up!!

Start the Next Day Fresh

– Get back on track, start a new day and get with it!
Sometimes after a “cheat day” or a day of indulgences, your mind wants to tell you you give up completely. No way! Keep going… one bad day won’t make you unhealthy! 🙂

I paced around the dealership trying to talk mysel I paced around the dealership trying to talk myself out of buying a new car. 

I’m pretty sure the salesman thought I was crazy and was about to cancel his steak dinner for the night because I looked like I couldn’t handle it 😆

I’m not really materialistic….
I have no problem going to the good will (heck, I grew up on it) 😐
I don’t care about brand new shiny things…

BUT - 
My husband, very sternly but super sweet, said “Farin, you can walk out right now… but you deserve this. You work hard for this. You deserve to have something you really want.” 💕

Soooooo I signed on the dotted line, bought it all myself and for the FIRST TIME ever I have a brand new, never owned before car from the year we are in 😆
(legit, I said to my husband when we pulled out “oh my gawd, I have never had a car from the year we are in.”
—- sounds silly to say but it’s true!

I tell y’all this because when I was working odd hours, I was trying to be a stay at home, I was overweight, I was struggling in multiple aspects…. I would have never thought that I could do this. 

I would have never thought that I could have built TWO businesses and be in a place where I am able to live how I want, where I want and drive what I want. 

I almost let fear and “what ifs” keep me from going for my goals - but I didnt. 

I went for it.

If plan A didn’t work, I tried other letters. 
If I felt discouraged, I listened to entrepreneur podcasts. 🎙 
If it felt hard, I remembered there are much harder things. 

I will always be found in the dollar section of target like I won the lottery….
I will still look for fun things at the good will…
You still will never see me with a Dooney and Burke bag…

But I will take this new car for me and that I earned it, working hard for ME. 🥰

For my ladies who have watched this journey and have wanted to do something for YOU….

DO IT. LEAP, my friends.
You are capable of so much! 💕

8 years ago yesterday, I became a momma to a littl 8 years ago yesterday, I became a momma to a little girl. (Heyyyy where are all my girl moms??? 🙋🏼‍♀️💕)

My first child was a boy and so I had no idea the feeling I would get with a little girl... While pregnant I didn’t care what I was having...
As long as this little person was healthy, I was happy.

But then SHE came into my world.
She looks at me in a different way than anyone else.
She wants to wear what I wear...
She wants to do what I do...
The PERSON that I am MATTERS to her...

The PERSON that I am may ultimately be who she becomes...

So every single day, I don’t just want to be a better human for me, but for HER!

Why would I not provide my little girl with the absolute BEST role model she could have???

If I don’t want her to grow up to be overweight...
Guess what????
I CAN NOT be overweight myself 😮

If I want her to love herself...
Guess what???
I HAVE to love myself. ❤️

If I want to her to grow up happy and doing her passions...
You guessed it..
I have to be doing MY PASSIONS myself. 🌟

For a WHOLE month, I was overweight, didn’t love myself and was not living my passion...🤦🏼‍♀️

And then I remembered that this little girl was watching me, and I got my shit together and made a CHANGE. 🙌🏼

I’ll do anything for my kids...
And I’ll start with giving them the BEST person to look up to... ❤️

Happy Birthday to my little bestie! 💕

I’ll spend the rest of my life being the best version of myself so you always have the BEST of me.
